San Sebastian - The Food!
We went to 20 Pintxos spots - Our favourite ones are:
Kbzon Txiki - octopus with sweet potato purée, lime mussels, beef snout with cuttle fish and beer, duck with cream broth and soft egg, slow pork rib with a peanut sauce and chimichurri (went to this place twice)
Bar Kbzona - duck breast, burrata and mussels, and an amazing salad - duck confit, apple, walnut, endive, and shaved fois gras (went to this place twice)
Atari Gastrolekua - beef Boa bun with hoisin sauce, beef cheek, pork belly with a lemon and mustard sauce, and a toasted baguette with olive tapenade then brie (maybe goat) then topped with honey (or fig) with iberico ham, (went here twice)
Ganbara - one of Anthony Bourdain’s spots - three types of mushrooms with an egg yolk, ham croquette, shrimp and fois gras on potato and baguette. We had dinner in the restaurant - the Hake cheeks were great (especially the breaded ones). Had a great bottle of Rioja, Vina Ardanza. The staff was amazing!
Bar Nestor - Iberian ham slices, heirloom tomatoes with salt and olive oil, and bread - simply delicious!
Gandarias - risotto with truffles, artichoke with Iberian dewlap, grilled fois gras
